About us - Our History

Through the generations were called I COSTANTI all the heirs of Antonio Costante Carcereri who was the forefather of a close-knit, large important family who settled in Caldiero in the 19th century. The family was noted for their pride, entrepreneurship, high moral values.

In the 19th century they purchased the old rural courtyard of the Bambare together with other large plots around it. The oldest part of the house where they lived was built in the 18th century making use of ancient pieces of roman stones being the house situated in a roman area famous for its thermal baths still existing today, hot waters with extraordinary healing properties.

I Costanti built a complete farm around the courtyard, of a mixed kind, planted with vines and grown with many different crops, totally managed by the family.

In recent times I Costanti have chosen the intensive growing of vineyards following the most advanced techniques of vines growing .

Nowadays the farm is all planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, grey Pinot and consists of 10 ha in Caldiero and 7 ha in Valpolicella.

The old house was all restored by I Costanti’s last heir , Gabria Girelli, 3 years ago, with great love and care for the memories of her family, in a strictly conservative way, and it is now I COSTANTI farm holiday as well as Francesca’s ( Gabria’s daughter ) and her husband Milo’s house and their childrens’, Matteo and Sofia.

The restauration preserved all the original features of the old building, rafters, floors with “ terracotta “ tiles, stone walls inside and outside made up of local stones giving the house the aspect of an austere, stately castle.

The house was furnished with very much refined, elegant but country taste pieces recovering a lot of objects and paintings belonging to the family of which actually evoke the story. .The atmosphere and the candles lights recalls grandparents’ silent, humble, hard working life.. There’s a lot of love in this house…..

Milo and Francesca welcome their beloved guests with simplicity, heartiness and warmth offering them a “ bed and breakfast “ service in nine large rooms where you can both feel immersed in the charm of past times and be cuddled by the joys of contemporary comforts, in Caldiero, east of Verona, land of ancient roman baths.
